Dividing Fractions unit contains 80 pages and 34 google slides designed for students with autism and special learning needs. This unit looks at dividing proper and improper fractions as well as equations that have whole and mixed numbers using the KEEP, CHANGE, FLIP method.
Students will also practice real world scenarios dividing fractions by having a bean party with different themes and situations each day. They will come to understand that the smaller the portion, the more people you can invite to your party. Directions and templates are provided to make this as engaging and meaningful to your students as possible.
There are 4 power cards for students to use while working through the unit.
Each card also has an example to show students how to work through each step.
There are 14 worksheets included. There is some color-coding provided to support students.
Finally, there is a quiz to assess understanding at the end of the unit.

Much of what I have learned about curriculum development is incorporated into these units. For example, do not be afraid of repetition. It is critical that students with significant disabilities get to experience material over several days to be able to fully assimilate what is being taught. Also, adding visual supports to your printables and class activities helps students be able to pay more attention to the content you are presenting rather than the mechanics of what is expected. Finally, ask questions. Good questions!! Regardless of the material, if we can ask students good questions it will push them to think more deeply than before.
♥As always please take a moment to leave feedback or post any questions you may have.
