Systems of Equations and Inequalities Algebra Bundle for Special Education

This BUNDLE covers everything you will need to teach about systems of equations and inequalities. The introductory unit goes over some basic concepts about what systems are and the difference between equations and inequalities. Students will practice reading and interpreting them but not solving them in this first unit.

The second and third units dive into actually the steps of solving systems of equations and inequalities.

The second unit focuses on solving systems of equations using substitution and elimination. There are worksheets that have students practice individual steps as well as work through the entire problem.

The third unit focuses on solving systems of inequalities using graphing. There are worksheets that have students practice individual steps as well as work through the entire problem.

I know you are being asked to teach more rigorous standards, and this can be truly challenging especially in the upper grades. This material is meant to prepare students for testing and be successful with regular curriculum content in a way that is age-appropriate, respectful, yet still accessible. Finally, I have included detailed lesson plans with the advanced unit to help you make the most of the materials and see growth in your students.

Much of what I have learned about curriculum development is incorporated in these units. For example, do not be afraid of repetition. It is critical that students with significant disabilities get to experience material over several days to be able to fully assimilate what is being taught. Also, adding visual supports to your printables and class activities helps students be able to pay more attention to the content you are presenting rather than the mechanics of what is expected. Finally, ask questions. Good questions!! Regardless of the material, if we can ask students good questions it will push them to think more deeply than before.
