This advanced unit on algebra focuses on Solving Systems of Inequalities and contains over 124 pages and 39 google slides of material specifically designed for students with special learning needs, especially autism who are in middle and high school.


Teaching these advanced topics can be challenging when you have students who may be missing some of the pre-requisite skills needed to be successful. Some of these problems use pictures to help students visualize what is happening in each problem and give them more success.

In this introductory unit, students learn how to read the inequalities and understand what they mean.



This unit focuses on solving systems of inequalities using graphing. There are worksheets that have students practice individual steps as well as work through the entire problem.


There are MANY opportunities for students to engage in repeated information on these very abstract and challenging concepts. This repetition helps students develop learning patterns.


This unit now includes digital versions of the printable activities. There are 39 google slides including a set that is differentiated.

Much of what I have learned about curriculum development is incorporated in these units. For example, do not be afraid of repetition. It is critical that students with significant disabilities get to experience material over several days to be able to fully assimilate what is being taught. Also, adding visual supports to your printables and class activities helps students be able to pay more attention to the content you are presenting rather than the mechanics of what is expected. Finally, ask questions. Good questions!! Regardless of the material, if we can ask students good questions it will push them to think more deeply than before.
