The Unteachables Novel Study for Special Education with chapter questions

The Unteachables by Gordan Korman is the focus of this novel unit for students with autism and special learning needs.

Have you ever wanted to read a novel to your special education students but thought, there is no way they will sit and listen? Persevere, it is worth it!!

This 236 page unit on the novel The Unteachables is designed for students who have significant disabilities and special learning needs. I was always reading a novel to my students, regardless of their learning level. The lesson of learning to sit while someone is talking is an invaluable skill that is worthwhile teaching.

This unit has various activities to accompany Korman’s book, The Unteachables. The materials were designed to allow students with multiple levels of learning to access and engage in lessons learned through listening to this novel.

There are many opportunities for students to engage in repeated information about the story of how one class of misfits ended up saving their teacher and restoring his passion for teaching. This repetition encourages deeper engagement in the book.

Finally, many activities include more than one version, differentiation suggestions, and presentation options. There is an activity (34 different activities!!) to go with each chapter as your students stay engaged while you read this novel aloud.

I have also started creating TWO SEPARATE FILES. One is completely in color and one is completely in black and white rather than combined together in one unit. This was a suggestion from a buyer, and I thought if it makes someone’s life easier, then I am all in! So, I hope you find this format easier to use and more printer-friendly. Even though there are more pages, the price has not increased.
