This unit has various activities to accompany Taylor’s book, Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry. The materials were designed to allow students with multiple levels of learning to access and engage in lessons learned through listening to this novel.

Finally, many of the activities include more than one version, suggestions for differentiation, and options for presentation. There are 30 different activities (2-3 for each chapter) to keep students engaged while you read this novel aloud.

There are 2 complete files to go with this unit. One is in color and one is in BW.

This unit has 5 multiple choice comprehension questions for every chapter. Each question has 3 picture answer choices. An answer key is included.

⭐ I appreciate and acknowledge that this is a hard read, and students with significant challenges (for whom this novel study was created) may not fully understand the horror of what happened during this time.

I have tried to be respectful of the events that occurred while providing some activities that do not go too deep yet still relate to the events in the book.
