PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS NOVEL UNIT IS FOR STUDENTS WITH SIGNIFICANT DISABILITIES WHO ARE EITHER EMERGING OR NON-READERS AND DOES NOT INCLUDE THE NOVEL OR AN ADAPTED VERSION.

⭐ YOU WILL NEED YOUR OWN COPY OF THE BOOK⭐

This novel study has print and digital activities to accompany Ryan’s book, Esperanza Rising.

The materials were designed to allow students at multiple levels of learning to access and engage with lessons learned from listening to this novel.

There are many opportunities for students to engage in repeated information about the amazing story of Esperanza, a very special girl who, despite losing almost everything, rises above her situation and learns important life lessons. This repetition encourages deeper engagement with the book.

Finally, many of the activities include multiple versions, suggestions for differentiation, and presentation options. There is an activity (35 activities!!) to go with a section of pages as your students stay engaged while you read this novel aloud.
