Description

Using a Calm Voice Social Story is created for an older or more mature audience that includes students with autism and other special learning needs. This social story on using a calm voice addresses students who would get really loud when they were agitated or confused in a simplified but rigorous way for students with diverse learning needs to make meaningful and authentic connections to the material. There are many opportunities for students to engage in repeated information on the importance of using a calm voice when upset. This repetition encourages internalization of remaining calm.

See preview for more detail on content.

Teaching students appropriate behavior and response/reactions to various situations is a challenge we face as special education teachers. This is why I feel it is so critical to teach these skills in a safe, non-stressful situation, NOT while the behavior is occurring. If you target and protect instructional time to teach these social skills, you are more likely to see them transfer to naturally occurring settings. I know there never seems to be enough time to teach what you need to in a school day, but you will not be sorry if you put time aside every day to work on building better social skills in a thoughtful and structured manner. My hope is that these social stories and related activities will make that task a little easier for you.

♥As always please take a moment to leave feedback or post any questions you may have. Remember, you will gain credit toward future purchase on tpt as you leave more and more feedback!!

♥I am currently developing more units, and any feedback I get helps me make improvements in the future.

Compassion. It can be tough to feel compassion du Compassion. It can be tough to feel compassion during difficult times. We may feel confused and scared by the events of January 6, 2021. Embrace that fully. Feel it deeply. But then move on. Move on to something more powerful and healing. . Sending kindness and compassion into the world will only make it and you better. Accepting we may never understand why people act in certain ways, and feeling compassion regardless can be so powerful and healing. . As we start a new day, embrace, and fully feel what it is like to have compassion for others. Let go of the anger and the blame. We can be strong and resilient in our kindness and compassion towards others.
