Description

This bundle includes the full print Industrial Revolution part 1 unit AND 32 google slides with the movie version of the PowerPoint.

This unit on the Industrial Revolution part 1 covers the years from 1790-1850 and contains over 150 pages of material specifically designed for students with special learning needs, especially autism, who are in middle and high school. This unit addresses the main events and people of this time period in a simplified but rigorous way for students with diverse learning needs to make meaningful and authentic connections to the material. There are many opportunities for students to engage in repeated information on the important events from this time and how they relate to what is happening today. This repetition helps students make connections to this important historical time period. In addition, many of the activities and assessments include more than one version, suggestions for differentiation, and options for presentation.

  • This unit was created for students with autism and special learning needs in middle and high school. It has everything that was included in the original pdf version PLUS google slides for most of the activities.

These digital activities were created using google slides and can be used with google classroom.

Each digital activity comes in 2 versions. The original plus one with color-coding to add more visual support for students who need extra help. There is also a link to a movie version of the books included in the unit you can have students watch on-line.

There are directions on how to access the digital activities and movie in a pdf included in each unit in this bundle. There are also suggestions on the easiest way to assign the appropriate activities to each student.

See the preview for a more detailed look at the contents.

Much of what I have learned about curriculum development is incorporated in these units. For example, do not be afraid of repetition. It is critical that students with significant disabilities get to experience material over several days to be able to fully assimilate what is being taught. Also, adding visual supports to your printables and class activities helps students be able to pay more attention to the content you are presenting rather than the mechanics of what is expected. Finally, ask questions. Good questions!! Regardless of the material, if we can ask students good questions it will push them to think more deeply than before.

This year.... I stepped back from making new resou This year.... I stepped back from making new resources this year so I could spend time updating, expanding, and (honestly) improving some older units. With almost 800 resources this is a BIG commitment. It will likely take me all of 2021 to get through my novel units. But I am determined and know it will be worth it in the long run for YOU. For teachers who work with those students who are the MOST severely impacted. That is where my 💕 lies. With those teachers who are determined to do what no one thinks is possible. I want you to have the best tools possible so you can focus your attention, time and energy on teaching and not hunting for resources. It may be a long year, but I am devoted to this mission and these teachers. #specialneedsforspecialkids #specialeducationteacher #specialedteacher
